Ruhnu Fiddle Festival
The Ruhnu Fiddle Festival tradition began in 2013. The Festival is dedicated to the revival of Ruhnu-Swedish fiddle music. Ruhnu Island was once known for its skilled fiddle players, but the musical tradition ended during World War II. Fortunately, thanks to Swedish Radio and Estonian researchers, much has been preserved both in estonian and swedish archives. As part of the fiddle festival, a fiddle course and several concerts are held on the island. Every year we invite experts and teachers from other musical cultures to the camp. We have had teachers from Ireland to Syria, Cyprus to Brazil. Registration for the camp will be announced in April 2026.Information about this can be found on the festivals website.
The organizers of the Festival and the camp are musicians Karoliina Kreintaal, Lee Taul and Kairi Leivo.
XIII RUHNU VIOLIN FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE 1-8 July 2026.
